- Summary The Kims - mother and father Chung-sook and Ki-taek, and their young adult offspring, son Ki-woo and daughter Ki-jung - are a poor family living in a shabby and cramped half basement apartment in a busy lower working class commercial district of Seoul. Without even knowing it, they, especially Mr. and Mrs. Kim, literally smell of poverty. Often as a collective, they perpetrate minor scams to get by, and even when they have jobs, they do the minimum work required. Ki-woo is the one who has dreams of getting out of poverty by one day going to university. Despite not having that university education, Ki-woo is chosen by his university student friend Min, who is leaving to go to school, to take over his tutoring job to Park Da-hye, who Min plans to date once he returns to Seoul and she herself is in university. The Parks are a wealthy family who for four years have lived in their modernistic house designed by and the former residence of famed architect Namgoong. While Mr. and Mrs. Park are all about status, Mrs. Park has a flighty, simpleminded mentality and temperament, which Min tells Ki-woo to feel comfortable in lying to her about his education to get the job. In getting the job, Ki-woo further learns that Mrs. Park is looking for an art therapist for the Parks' adolescent son, Da-song, Ki-woo quickly recommending his professional art therapist friend "Jessica", really Ki-jung who he knows can pull off the scam in being the easiest liar of the four Kims. In Ki-woo also falling for Da-hye, he begins to envision himself in that house, and thus the Kims as a collective start a plan for all the Kims, like Ki-jung using assumed names, to replace existing servants in the Parks' employ in orchestrating reasons for them to be fired. The most difficult to get rid of may be Moon-gwang, the Parks' housekeeper who literally came with the house - she Namgoong's housekeeper when he lived there - and thus knows all the little nooks and crannies of it better than the Parks themselves. The question then becomes how far the Kims can take this scam in their quest to become their version of the Parks

Its been a month and i still cant forget that ending. I just watched n csme is amazing n brilliant movie i hve ever seen but 1917 is far better n worth oscar. I thnk 1917 is more than that... The trailer looks like a comedy the movie is a tradegy. How can so many reach the conclusion, that the movie portrays how capitalism results in parasites. Honestly the poor could have just settled with the actually qualified son teaching English, the rich could have just fed the man in the basement, and everyone would be more or less fine! I think it shows what happens when people get greedy, whether that's poor people trying to become rich, well-established people trying to have secrets or rich people trying to optimize everything. At least I think it's worth seeing it more as human tendencies and less of capitalism bad.

I'm Korean and one of the details most foreigners(and even Koreans) miss to mention is that those families were never like that poor/rich all the way through their life! The rich family's dad is introduced in several details as he started from the bottom - and became an icon for it(The term Ja-Su-Seong-Ga is mentioned repeatedly+His company is an IT/Tech sort of company which makes it more believable. In the poor family's house, you can see several items/details where they were far more wealthier before(not super rich, but just better off in general) just that the poor family's father had a failed business that lead this family into this poverty. Thoses family members aren't incompetant at all. Dad has several great skillsets, mom was a national level athlete, sister is good at art, and the son is educated enough to teach the rich sub-poor couple's husband even owned his own small business back in the day. You act like you were born with the class, in reality, you're just stationed into a system. Capital hierarchy blinds you into believing the wealthy deserves of their own class while the poor believes the same, respectiong and admiring the upperclass. loads of casualty without any villans.

Who else though this was a live action adaptation of the anime parasyte 😂🤦♂️. This is losing less lame files from streaming Ký Sinh Trùng, like Netflix, Amazon Video.
Boon Jong ho's parasite is a slow burner 2hr film telling a story about two families (actually3) whose lives gets entangled within a house. Although the last half hour movie do make out of the lost time initially where the story takes some time for the build up.
The mansion has a special eerie feel throughout the film and you will know why it feels like that later on. The background score supports the eerieness. I watched the film in Korean language using eng subtitles edited by a Korean guy who knew only handful of English. So there were scenes where I had to literally assume what had happened by looking at the frame alone.
Overall you won't regret watching parasite, infact it's a must watch for people who likes seeing unpredictable films.

I am not sure if I am seeing things but clearly Da-songs paintings were all portraying 1 subject which is the housekeepers husband (as he saw him when he was eating cake that night of his birthday. At that scene of him and Ki-jung where he is painting, I can see him painting the man with a knife I mean yeah this film is so awezommeee. Social satire movies usually are serious, but Bong made this movie so thrilling & fun to watch. It will both make & ruin your day. I didn't know people actually struggled with subtitles. Like have we gotten that lazy we can't even read simple sentences.
First ever subtitle movie I've ever been able to watch and not be distracted by following the words all the way through. Brilliant suspense thriller with comedic reality as a result of an excellent screenplay and concept. hands down deserved these Oscar wins and best movie I've seen in a long time, beyond this year even! Congrats South Korea.
Gisaengchung pelicula completa. If you view in 720p hd as everything is fine — looking x/f and enjoy. If you're not aware of K-Drama, K-films, hell, even K-Pop, you are completely missing out on literally, a whole different world of entertainment. Hollywood isnt the only place for great films anymore. If you have watched the movie, come back here again and watch this trailer! Its right on target.
